Arthur M. ��Archie�� Karnay, 84, WWII Army Veteran

Arthur M. ‘’Archie’’ Karnay, 84, of Lorain died Friday October 8, 2004 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain after an extended illness.

He was born May 19, 1920 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Mr. Karnay attended Lorain High School and then served with the US Army during World War II. He was a corporal in the 101st Airborne Division, 82nd Airborne Division and the Glider Paratroops and field artillery.

He worked as a carpenter at US Steel in Lorain for 30 years retiring in 1970 and was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain.

He is survived by his brothers: Elek ‘’Al’’ Karnai of Canton, John Karnai of Lorain and Julius Karnai of Massillon; nephew Elek L. Karnai, Jr.; and his wife Kim of Columbus; and niece Marylu Crawford and her husband Jonathan of N. Canton.

His parents: John and Mary (nee Szucs) Karnai preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 2 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave.; Lorain. The Rev. Ralph Krupp, deacon of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
