Edward George Siwy, 86, Electrician

Edward George Siwy, 86 of Lorain, died Thursday, October 7, 2004 in Community Health Partners West after a sudden illness.

He was born November 9, 1917 in Lackawanna, NY. He moved with his wife, Irene, to the area in 1958 when he was transferred from the Buffalo, NY, Ford Plant to the Lorain plant.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in WWII in the Pacific Theatre and received the Purple Heart. He retired as an electrician from the Ford Motor Company after 43 years. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, the Polish Club, American Legion, and VFW, all of Lorain. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local #425. He enjoyed going out to eat with his wife, traveling and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Irene Siwy (nee Janicki), brothers, Chester and Ted Siwy, both of Orchard Park, NY; a sister, Lottie Kawa of Orchard Park, NY; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Anna (nee Partacz) Siwy; brother, Bill Siwy; and sisters, Clara Story and Bertha Zmuda.

A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 West 15th Street, Lorain, OH 44052. Arrangements are being made by Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.
