Wayne Lincoln Abbey, 76, WWII U.S. Army Veteran

Wayne Lincoln Abbey, age 76, of Elyria passed away Thursday evening in Elyria Memorial Hospital R.M.C. after a long illness.

He was born Sunday, Feb. 12, 1928 in North Kansas City Mo., living in Grafton area most of his life.

Mr. Abbey is a member of St. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Lorain. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the Medical corps. Mr. Abbey owned & operated Wayne's Sheet Metal in Grafton as a fabricator for 3 yrs before becoming ill.

He enjoyed music, wrestling, and reading his bible.

He is survived by his wife Jean, to whom he has been married to for 40 yrs.; 2 daughters: Peggy Hutchinson of Elyria, Ohio Sue Gitto of Moon Twp. Pa.; 4 sons: Steve Abbey of Medina, Ohio, Larry Abbey of Forest Hills, Fla., Andy Abbey of Elyria, Ohio, and Joe Posey of Elyria, Ohio; 19 Grandchildren, 16 Grandchildren; and a sister: Martha Jagusch of North Ridgeville, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Frank & Hattie Abbey; his 1st wife Anna; 1 son Ronald, 2 brothers & 1 sister.

Friends may call in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. with funeral services in St. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church 1500 Lincoln Blvd. Lorain, Ohio Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Edgar Anthony, pastor officiating.
