Donald Stuart Burbank, 85, Sergeant in the U.S Army

Donald Stuart Burbank, age 85, of Avon Lake, passed away Thursday September 30, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Avon, following a lengthy illness.

He was born August 28, 1919 in Lakewood and moved to Avon Lake from Bay Village in 1951.

He was a graduate of Rocky River High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 as a sergeant in the 43rd Reconnaissance Squadron in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was employed as a chief technical aid for the City of Avon Lake Engineering Department from 1960 until his retirement in 1983. Donald was a member of the Avon Lake Senior Computer Link Club and enjoyed fishing and golfing.

Mr. Burbank is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nora E. (nee Korsgaard); son, William D. (Debbie) of Sheffield Lake; three grandchildren, Sean, Lenaia and William R. and two sisters, Ruth Mitchel and Grace Burbank both of Florida.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Burbank and his parents, Frank H. and Hazel May (nee Whitenburt) Burbank.

Private family committal services will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Memorials may be forwarded to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 East 185th E Cleveland, OH 44119.
