Donald Wesley Griffin, 84, Machinist

He was born December 29, 1919 in Henrietta Township and was a life long area resident.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Mechanized Special Brigade 3516th and fought in the invasion of Normandy.
He worked as a Machinist for Bendix-Wesinghouse, Elyria for 43 years retiring in 1983. He and his wife also owned Griffin Pet Supply and Boarding Kennels for 20 years.
He was a member of AMVETS Post 22, Vermilion and a member of the National American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed woodworking, the Cleveland Indians, and bowled in Huron and Vermilion. He did saw sharpening in his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Helen Griffin (nee Ward), of Wakeman; daughter, Linda Griffin of Birmingham; sons, Kevin Griffin of Waterford, MI, and Randal Griffin of Merriman, UT, 2 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles B. and Ruby (nee Sanderson) Griffin; brother, Frank Griffin and sister, Mildred Griffin Spafford.
Private interment was held at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
