Helen L. Surace-Hodson, 92, Enjoyed singing and dancing
Helen L. Surace-Hodson (nee Balint), 92, of Arlington Heights, Illinois and formerly of Amherst and Lorain, died Friday, July 30, 2004 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.She was born November 13, 1911 in Lorain and had resided in Amherst from 1975 until moving to Arlington Heights, Illinois in 2003.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and the Seniors Club of the church. She enjoyed singing and dancing.
She is survived by her sons: Dr. Ronald Surace and his wife Ann of Evanston, Illinois, Gene Surace and his wife Candace of Mt. Prospect, Illinois and Jerome Surace and his wife Tri Trang of Fort Worth Texas, grandchildren Maia, Tom, David & Nicole, brother John Baling of Greenville, South Carolina, sister Marie Renker of Elyria, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband Dominic Surace, second husband Harry Hodson, parents John and Mary (nee Kosash) Baling and sister Ann Hanko.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 4, 2004 from 5-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Way, Amherst. The Rev. Lawrence Martello, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
