Verner B. Kyle, Jr., 90, Pitched in semi-pro baseball
Verner B. Kyle, Jr., age 90 of Avon Lake, Ohio, and formerly of Lakeside Park, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 3:25 p.m., at St. John’s Westshore Hospital in West Lake, OH.He was a member of the Lakeside Park, Kentucky Homeowners Association. Mr. Kyle was a Navy Veteran of World War II where he received nine battle stars for his service. He retired from L & N Railroad after working there more than 35 years as a pipe-fitter. Mr. Kyle also pitched in semi-pro baseball.
Survivors include his daughter; Ada (Dick) Kyle Wiley of Avon Lake, Ohio, and 2 grandchildren.
His wife, the late Agnes E. Whaley Kyle, preceded him in death in 1998.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2004 for 2-4 p.m., at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, in Latonia, Kentucky. The Catholic Blessing will take place on Monday, August 2, 2004, at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky, with an Honor Guard Service.
