Robert B. Temple, 83, Enjoyed bowling, camping, and woodworking
Robert B. Temple, 83 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.He was born November 26, 1920 in Lorain where he was raised He has been a resident of Amherst for the last 46 years.
He served in the Coast guard during World War II. He was employed by the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant for 26 years, retiring in 1983 as a seam fitter. Robert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst where he served as an usher. He enjoyed bowling, camping, sports, coaching Little League, and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Hilda G. Temple (nee Binder); his sons Terry Temple and Timothy Temple both of Amherst; his daughters Candice Fike of Amherst, Pamela Obbey of Lorain and Cynthia Given of South Amherst; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; and his brother Paul Temple of Norwalk.
He was preceded in death by his son Gary Temple; by his parents Henry and Marie Temple (nee Ruff); by his granddaughters Emily and Rebecca Temple; by his brothers Emil, Samuel, and Henry Temple; and by his three-year-old twin sisters.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services with the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard performing honors will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from St. Paul Lutheran Church; 115 Central Dr., Amherst. The Rev. Gary Bernath, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
