Darryl M. McQuate, 66, Enjoyed golf, gardening, traveling and bird watching
Darryl M. McQuate, age 66, of Lorain, died Monday, July 5, 2004 in the Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Cleveland, following a brief illness.Born on December 15, 1937 in Amherst, Ohio, he had lived in Lorain for most all of his life.
Darryl was a 1955 graduate of the Lorain High School. He had attended Baldwin Wallace College in Berea and received his MBA in 1977. He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1959 to 1965. He had been employed at Dorn Industry/American Crucible of Lorain for 31 years and then worked at Duffin Manufacturing in Elyria for 11 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain. He was on the finance committee of FAVA in Oberlin, and was a life-time member of the AMVETS Post 22 of Vermilion. He loved fishing. He enjoyed golf, gardening, traveling and bird watching.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Ann (nee Kozar), whom he married September 10, 1960; 2 sons: Darryl G. "Skip" McQuate of Wadsworth and Daniel J. McQuate of Fairview Park, Ohio; 5 grandchildren; and 1 brother: David W. McQuate of Lorain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Marshall and Ruth (nee Grubbs) McQuate; and 1 brother- Glenn A. McQuate.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by mass at 10 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain, with the Rev. Fr. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Vermilion Veteran's Council will conduct graveside military honors.
