Olga E. Komives, 86, Owned Olga's Food Market, Lorain

Photo of Olga E. Komives Olga E. Komives, (nee Yuhas), age 86, of Lorain, died Monday, May 3, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Avon, Ohio following an extended illness.

Mrs. Komives was born in Lorain on August 12, 1917 and had been a life-long resident of the city.

She, along with her late husband, was the proprietor of Olga’s Food Market, which had formerly operated on Elyria Avenue in Lorain from 1946-1970. She was previous employed by General Industries of Elyria.

She was an active member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Lorain where she enjoyed memberships in both the Busy Martha Circle and the Ladies Guild.

She is survived by her sons: Ronald of Sheffield Lake and Joseph, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her sister Dorothy Kern of Sheffield Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1971, her daughters Betty Jean DeChant, Diane Grubbs and Janice Komives, her parents Paul and Elizabeth (nee Kish) Yuhas, brothers Paul and Rudolph and sister Goldie Ganjok.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway in Lorain, where a memorial service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be observed on Thursday in the Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ, 1691 East 31st Street at Globe Avenue from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Atilla Veres Kovacks, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests contributions in her memory to the Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ, 1691 East 31st Street, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
