John R. Ducar Jr., 63, Worked at Lorain Ford Plant, avid bike rider
John R. Duke Ducar, Jr., 63, of Lorain, died Saturday April 24, 2004 after suffering an apparent heart attack while visiting his son in Illinois.He was born November 26, 1940 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Mr. Ducar served with the Ohio National Guard. He was currently employed at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant where he had worked for 43 years.
Mr. Ducar was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain, Knights of Columbus #637 and Italian American Veterans Post #1, both of Lorain and the Amherst Eagles Club. He was an avid bicycle rider and enthusiast and was a member of the Silver Wheels Bike Club and Lorain Wheelmen Bike Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and cross country skiing.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Carolyn (nee Bodnar); sons; David Ducar of Denver, Colorado and Richard Ducar of Dupage, Illinois; twin daughters Lisa Ducar and Mrs. David (Michelle) Kapalin; 7 grandchildren; sister Mrs. John (Betty Ann) Gillespie of Lorain and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John R. Ducar, Sr. and Mary A. Ducar (nee Ftacnik)
The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the Gluvna Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where a Parastas service will be held Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St., Lorain. The Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
