Julianne Turner, 72, LPN at Good Samaritan Nursing Home until 1997
Julianne H. Turner (nee Hurst), age 72, of Avon Lake, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2004 at Ohio Extended Care in Lorain following complications of Alzheimer’s disease.She was born on October 2, 1931 in Cleveland and moved to Avon Lake from Avon 34 years ago. She was a graduate of Parma Senior High School and received her training as a licensed practical nurse at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Lorain. Julianne was employed at St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain before retiring from Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Avon in 1997. Mrs. Turner was an active member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, was a member of the A.F.S. (American Field Service) for fifteen years and was a member of the Avon Women’s Club, when she resided in Avon. Julianne enjoyed her family and a being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed collecting baskets and Lladro porcelain and other knick-knacks, entertaining, cooking, camping, dancing, attending musical and cultural events, and traveling.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband of 34 years Richard P. Turner, three sons, Robert P. Turner (Nancy) of Avon Lake, David R. Turner (Jacquelyn) of Jupiter, Florida, and Daniel G. Turner of Tuscumbia, Alabama, three daughters, Gail Kochis (Tom) of Cleveland, Melissa Newbern (Garry) of Florence, Alabama, and Marjorie Engle of Parma, 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild, brother James B. Hurst III (Janet) of Traverse City, Michigan and Highland, North Carolina, and a sister Margaret Hurst of Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her daughter Alicia Leetch and her parents James b. Hurst, II and Helen Hurst (nee Brown).
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004. Funeral Services will be held at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake on Friday, April 23, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Kelly Peters, pastor, will officiate.
