Ora M. Eberhard, 88, Enjoyed singing, gardening, and playing cards

Ora Marie Eberhard (nee: Doll), 88 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2004 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a six-week illness.

She was born February 9, 1916 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio where she was raised and graduated from sugar creek High School with the class of 1933. She was a resident of Millersburg, Ohio from 1942 until 1951. She made her home in South Amherst since 1951.

In addition to being a homemaker, she cleaned homes in her area from 1968-1977. While in Millersburg, she was in business for herself making and selling swiss cheese. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in South Amherst where she was involved in the Women’s Guild, the Good Will Sunday School class, the Altar Guild, the Prayer Circle, the Friendship Circle, sang in the choir for 31 years, and was a former Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and word search puzzles.

Survivors include her son Ernest W. Eberhard of Olmsted Falls, her daughter Martha R. Baird of Lorain, two grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Walter E. Eberhard, by her parents Lewis Edward and Rosa E. Doll (nee Baab), by her brothers Harrison and Jacob Doll, and tow brothers in infancy, and by her sisters Minnie Mizer and Esther Degen.

A memorial services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, 416 Leonard St., South Amherst with the Rev. Paul Eaton officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. John United Church of Christ Endowment Fund, 416 Leonard St., South Amherst, Ohio 44001.

Arrangements are being handled by the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio 44001.
