Harold A. Levit, 86, Owned and operated Levit's Grocery Store

Harold A. Levit, age 86, of Lorain died on Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Community Health Partners Hospital & Surgical Center in Lorain, OH following a long illness.

Mr. Levit was born December 11, 1917, in Lorain and was a life long resident.

He was a member of one of the founding families of South Lorain. His father owned and operated Levit's Grocery Store on Vine Avenue in South Lorain.

Mr. Levit owned and operated Baker Meats in Lorain. He was a WW II Army Veteran, a 1936 B graduate of Lorain High School, and a member Agudath B'nai Israel
Synagogue. Mr. Levit was also a member of VFW Post 451, DAV Chapter 20 and
the Jewish War Veterans.

He was an avid softball player and he enjoyed bowling and golf.

Survivors include sons Rob M. Levit of Amherst, Neil S. of Lorain, daughter Allyson Feger of Macungie, PA, 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Levit is preceded by his wife: Eunice (nee Baker) on Feb. 9, 2004; parents: Nathan and Molly (nee Schwartz) Levit; a sister: Blanche in 2000; and a brother: Sidney in 1974.

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 18, 2004, at l:00 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 5th Street, Lorain with Rabbi Michael Hecht officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Lorain.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Agudath B'nai Israel Temple, 1715 Meister Road and Pole Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44053.
