Ellis ''Pete'' Griffith, 74, Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force

He was born on May 14, 1929 in Randolph County, West Virginia and has lived in Lorain since 1966.

Mr. Griffith served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the AMVETS and VFW Posts in Lorain, the Lorain Slovenian Club and the American Slovak Club. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed sports and playing cards.

He is survived by his brothers, Jennings Griffith, Glen Griffith and Sam Griffith, all of Lorain and Donald Griffith of Elkins, West Virginia, a sister Sue Knight of Stow, daughters Mary and Madena and a son, Doug, 8 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles W. and Marie (nee Hyre) Griffith, a brother, Charles R. Griffith and sisters, Virginia Griffith and Jean Rowan.

Friends may call on Monday, April 19, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Services will also be held at the Tomblyn Funeral Home, 45 Randolph Ave., Elkins, West Virginia, on Wednesday and Thursday at times still to be announced. Burial will be in Elkins Memorial Gardens, Elkins, West Virginia.
