Jacolyn �Jackie� Ann Benson, 57, Loved fishing, boating, and Lake Erie
Jacolyn Jackie Ann Benson (nee Clifford), age 57, of Avon Lake, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2004 at her home after a courageous fight against cancer.She was born February 17, 1947 in Cleveland and was raised in Avon Lake, and moved t Avon upon marrying her husband Neil. She recently moved back to Avon Lake in order to be closer to Lake Erie.
After graduation from Avon Lake High School, class of 1965, she worked for New York Life Insurance in Cleveland. After devoting all her time and energy for many years to her first love, her family, she started her own cleaning service. She personally cleaned each client’s home and became friends to all of them. After retiring from her cleaning service, Jackie became an indispensable employee of the Avon Lake Dairy Queen. She was the heart of all the delicacies that passed over the counter, and a caring listener for many teen-aged co-workers. As first mate of her family’s boat, Jackie fulfilled her passion for fishing and boating. She could be found on Lake Erie, alongside her husband Neil, at 5 a.m. reeling fish.
Mrs. Benson is survived by her husband: Neil; a daughter: Jill Benson of Avon; two sons: Joel Benson (Colleen) of Medina, and Jeffery Benson of Avon Lake; her parents: Jack and Betty (nee Marley) Clifford of Avon Lake; a sister: Nancy Albrecht (Skip) of Avon Lake; and two brothers: Jim (Nadia) of Hudson, and Scott (Noreen) of Avon Lake.
Friends may call the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel; 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake on Saturday, April 17, from 2-4 and 7 until the time of service at 8:30 p.m. Rev. Charles and Dale Hawes will officiate. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Family suggests memorial contributions to be forwarded to the American Cancer Society, 43099 N.
