Mary Ellen Zilko, 67, Enjoyed reading, music, and collectibles

Mary Ellen Zilko (nee Ksenich), age 67, of Lorain, died Sunday, April 11, 2003 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria, following a sudden illness.

Mrs. Zilko was born June 20, 1936 in Lorain and had been a lifelong area resident.

Mary Ellen was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Lorain in 1954. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain as an Accredited Medical Records Technician for 40 years. After the hospital closed, she worked for the offices of Dr. Michael Kolczun and Drs. Francisco & Norman Floro in medical records and was currently transcribing medical records at the office of Dr. M.G. Salka.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, St. Ann’s Lodge Br. #114 and the Co’Etts Club which is a women’s alumni group of St. Mary’s High School. She also served on the committee of the Slovak Bowling Tournament. She enjoyed reading, music, and collectibles.

Mrs. Zilko is survived by her sisters: Betty J. Popio of Hubbard and Patricia Garrett of Lorain; brothers: Nicholas Ksenich and Joseph A. Ksenich, both of Lorain; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Edward Zilko on October 8, 1997; parents: Nicholas and Elizabeth Ksenich (nee Banacki); and sister: Rosemary Ksenich.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel; 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church; 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
