Agnes Jean Vargo, 77, Great cook, enjoyed polka dancing

Agnes Jean Vargo (nee Adams), 77, of Lorain, died Saturday April 10, 2004 at her home after a brief illness.

She was born March 13, 1927 in Munhall; Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain since childhood.

Mrs. Vargo worked as a waitress at Sutter's Restaurant on Broadway Avenue in Lorain.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lorain. She was an accomplished cook and baker and was known for her cabbage rolls and poppyseed rolls. She enjoyed polka dancing.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years George Vargo, Sr., sons, John Adams of Vermillion, George Vargo, Jr. of Lorain, and Terry “Whitey” Vargo of Amherst Township, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, sisters Pauline Adams of Lorain, Jane Prunner and Beverly Ockajik, both of Las Vegas and Johanna Waitt of Amherst; brothers Jack Adams and Robert Adams, both of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Susan (nee Banyas) Adams and sister Lorraine Neal.

The family will receive friends Monday 4-7 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon. The Rev. Jimmy Madsen, co-pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
