Robert M. Dunnigan, 55, Ardent outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing and hunting
Robert M. Dunnigan, age 55, of Lorain, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 in the M.I.C.U. at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following an illness of two years.Mr. Dunnigan was born April 17, 1948 in Lorain and had been a resident of the city for the majority of his life.
Robert attended Saint Anthony Parish School and went on to graduate from Lorain High School. He was employed as a health benefits consultant for the Lorain-based Brant Company, a firm that he founded and had served as president of for the past twenty years. He had previously been employed by U.S. Steel Corporation serving as a crane operator for eight years in the # 3 Seamless Mill of the Lorain Works.
Mr. Dunnigan was a parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and was regarded as an ardent outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Additional interests included gun collecting shooting, reloading ammunition, and watching vintage John Wayne movies.
He was a member of the National Health Underwriters Association, the Ohio Gun Collectors Association, and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Dunnigan is survived by his wife of thirty-six years: Patricia L. (nee Jessel); a son: Kelly M. Dunnigan of Lorain; daughter: Janette M. Pena of Lorain; four granddaughters; his mother: Theresa (nee Korcz) Dunnigan residing in Avon lake; and sisters: Patricia Martin of Lafollette, Tennessee, and Theresa Tongco of The Villages, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father: Robert C. Dunnigan.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Father Charles Henkle, O.F.M. Conv., associate pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
