Zenaida E. Abella, 65, Enjoyed golf, tennis, and flower gardening

Mrs. Abella was born in the Philippines on January 8, 1939 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1965.

Zenaida attended commerce school while residing in the Philippines and continued that education upon her arrival in the United States by completing courses in accounting and finance at Lorain County Community College. She was a long-time parishioner of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter and was widely acknowledged as an accomplished gourmet cook. She enjoyed golf, tennis, and flower gardening with a special focus on orchids. She was an accomplished reader who enjoyed novels and other works relating to human interest and history. Her most ardent passion, however, was playing weekly Mah Jong games with friends.

Mrs. Abella is survived by her daughters: Sarah T. Abella of Lorain, Stella A. Baccaray of Avon Lake; son: Dale M. Abella of Lansing, Illinois; sister; Corazon Vita of California, and brothers Victorino Enriquez residing in California, and Andres and Renato Enriquez whom both live in the Philippines.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Dr. Deogracias M. Abella in 1993; by her parents: Arcadio and Felicidad (nee Escamis) Enriquez; by sisters: Rosa Osuna, Flora Enriquez in infancy, Gertrudes Arcigal, and Regalada Monilla, as well as a brother: Isidro Enriquez in infancy.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of Saint Peter 3501 Oberlin Avenue - Lorain. The Reverend David O. Woost, associate pastor of the parish, will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
