Walter A. Bandersky, 62, Enjoyed nature, gardening, and spending time with his family

Walter A. Bandersky, age 62, of Amherst, and former resident of Lorain, died Saturday April 3, 2004 at the University Hospitals of Cleveland following a brief illness.

Mr. Bandersky was born May 20, 1941 in Lorain and had been a resident of Amherst since 1999.

Mr. Bandersky was a 1959 graduate of Lorain High School; he was a member of the first class of the Lorain School of Technicians which later evolved into the Lorain County Community College. He received his Associates of Arts degree Cum Laude in Electrical Engineering Technology from L.C.C.C. He later received his Bachelors of Science degrees Cum Laude in Business Management and Psychology from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.

From 1974 until the time of his retirement in 1998 he was employed as a Process Engineer at Ford Motor Company's Ohio Truck Plant in Avon Lake. Walter was a parishioner of Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. His hobbies included nature, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was also an avid card player who looked forward to weekly sixty-six games at Lorain Am Vets Post #47 where he was a social member.

He is survived by his wife of forty-one years: Valerie (nee Dorsey), a son: Jason M. Bandersky of Amherst, daughter-in-law: Christine (nee Gordon) Bandersky, grandson: Matthew, his mother: Ann (nee Haller) Bandersky of Lorain, a sister: Ann Marie Mitchell of Lorain, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father: Walter Bandersky in 1996.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 24 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel; 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church - 310 8th Street in Lorain. The Reverend Daniel O. Divis, pastor of Saint Mary Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park - Amherst Township.
