Raymond Hernandez, 77, US Army Veteran, enjoyed bowling

Raymond Hernandez, 77, of Vermilion, died Thursday, April 1, 2004 in Community Health Partners West, Lorain after a lengthy illness

He was born September 30, 1926 in Chicago, IL and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 9 years moving from Lorain

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He worked for American Ship in Lorain, Tappan in Elyria, Hill and Hubble in Lorain and had also worked on the railroad.

He enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

Survivors include his companion of 29 years Anne Owen of Vermilion; son, Manuel Hernandez of Lorain; daughter, Frances Hernandez of Lorain; two sisters, Josephine Cruz of Waco, TX and Louise Lopez of Waco, TX; two brothers, Tony and Victor Ceja both of Lorain, two sisters, Anita Garcia and Angela Garcia both of Lorain, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Saniago Hernandez and Candelaria (nee Maciel) and his step father, Victor Ceja, Sr., sister, Sally Pena, 2003 and brother Salvadore Hernandez.

Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South St. Vermilion, OH.

The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct evening military services at 7 p.m.

Private burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
