Alice M. Brandt, 81, WWII Veteran, enjoyed sewing, traveling

Alice M. Brandt (nee Brusso), 81, of Lorain, died Friday March 26, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a sudden illness.

She was born September 2, 1922 in East Rochester, New York and had resided in Lorain since 1946.

Mrs. Brandt served with the US Navy during World War II as a Specialist (1) Second Class. She worked at the Lorain Telephone Company for 20 years as a key punch operator retiring 1977.

Mrs. Brandt was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and the Paduan Travelers of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed sewing, reading, baking, cooking and traveling.

She is survived by her daughters; Mrs. Dennis (Cheryl) Stewart of Circleville and Mrs. Edward (Debbie) Dunham of North Ridgeville, a granddaughter and four grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Brandt in 2002, grandson Michael Dunham, parents Wilfred & Anna Brusso (nee Archambo), brother Wilfred “Bus” Brusso and sisters Ruth Bishop and Ann Patric.

The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A funeral mass will be held Monday at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. The Rev. Joseph Warner, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township where VFW Post #451 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
