John Dugar, 91, WWII Veteran, US Steel Retiree

John Dugar, 91, of Lorain, died Thursday March 25th, 2004 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain after a lengthy illness.

He was born November 21, 1912 in Austria and immigrated to the United States in 1927. He had resided in Lorain since 1945.

Mr. Dugar served with the US Army during World War II and saw action in Normandy; Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the WWII Victory Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Dugar worked at US Steel in Lorain for 40 years retiring in 1974.

He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain. He enjoyed working around his home.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Margaret Dugar (nee Fesco), stepdaughter Janet Mercurio of Lorain, step grandchildren Kathy Swearingen of Broadview Heights and Ken Mercurio of Lorain and step great grandson Adam Mercurio of Lorain.

Private family services were held with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
