Robert C. Osborn, 88, WWII Veteran, served under General Patton
Robert Clarence Osborn, age 88, of Elyria passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004 in his home after a long illness.He was born Saturday, September 25, 1915 in Linn, West Virginia, living in the Lorain County area over 60 years. Mr. Osborn served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 95th Infantry in Germany & France and served with General Patton. He was employed by General Motors in Elyria in the buffing department as a buffer & machine operator for over 30 years, until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of AmVets in Elyria, UAW in Elyria, and loved gardening, farming, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Vonalee Bozman of Elyria, Ohio and Lottie Walden of Revenna, Ohio, four sons: Vestal Osborn of North Ridgeville, Ohio Verlon Osborn of West Salem, Ohio Vinton Osborn of Elyria, Ohio, and Lonnie Osborn of Camden, Ohio, 21 grandchildren & 23 great grandchildren, a sister Mary Flint of LaGrange, Ohio, and a brother Harley Osborn of Weston, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by his wife Eula Mae in 2001, a grandson Darrell Sherrill, three brothers & two sisters, and his parents Peter & Dephia Osborn.
Friends may call in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with funeral services in the funeral home Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Darrell Reed officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
