Sara Jean McDaniels, 91, Owned and operated the former Artistic Beauty Shop and Francis' Beauty Shop

Sara Jean McDaniels, 91 (nee McGrady) of Vermilion died on Monday, March 22, 2004, at New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph in Lorain, OH following a short illness.

Mrs. McDaniels was born on November 25, 1912, in Lorain, and moved to Vermilion in 1954. She was a descendant of one of the pioneer families settling in Lorain.

She graduated from Lorain High School in 1932 and Lorain School of Cosmetology in 1950. She owned and operated the former Artistic Beauty Shop and Francis' Beauty Shop before opening a small shop at her home. She also owned and operated a craft store also in Vermilion. During WW II, she drove a mail car and bus service in the former National Tube Co.

Sara is survived by her son: Robert Gray of Vermilion; step son: Dennis McDaniels of Amherst; and one grandson.

Mrs. McDaniels is preceded in death by her husband: Louis E. McDaniels in 1971; her parents: John J. "Capt. Jack" and Lotta Ann (nee Walberg) McGrady; her sister: Aileen Doane; and a brother: Donald McGrady.

Graveside services will be held on March 26, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township with Rev. Dr. L. H. Chamberlain, co-pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.
