Frank Septaric, 89, World War II Army Veteran

Frank Septaric, 89, of Lorain died Saturday, March 20, 2004 at home under hospice care following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Lorain March 24, 1915.

Frank was employed by U.S. Steel’s Lorain Works as the Power House Electrician from 1948 until he retired in 1977. He represented the workers as a Union Committee man before he retired. In his earlier years, he worked at the Lorain Coliseum Roller and Dance Hall as a Floor Manager. He enjoyed singing with the dance bands on Friday nights. He loved to dance, and on skating nights, he was a dance skater with his partner. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, gardening, and working with electronics. He was a member of the St. Vitus Croatian Church in Lorain.

Frank was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Force right after Pearl Harbor and was the radio gunner on the B-17’s Aircraft, receiving an honorable discharge after the war. He immediately re-enlisted for 1 year occupation of Germany and was in charge of the airfield’s radio rooms centered around Frankfurt.

Survivors include his wife: Doris (nee Hallgren); daughter: Mary Septaric of Lorain; sons: Jeffery, Gregory and Ronald all of Lorain, Richard of Elyria, and Michael of Catawba Island; brother: George of Lorain; sisters: Rose Christen of Lorain, and Kaye Beverly of Hamilton, OH; 11 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Marcus and Mary (nee Breske) Septaric; brothers: Samuel and Martin; and sister Florence Willembucker.

Private services were held Tuesday at Wyers Funeral Chapel in Elyria. The Rev. Simon Nekic of St. Vitus Croation Church was the celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elyria. Military honors were conducted by the Disabled Military Honor Group of Lorain.
