William Wichy, 80, Retired from US Steel in 1994

William Wichy, age 80, of Lorain, died at his residence following a brief illness.

Born on February 29, 1924 in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, he had lived in Lorain since 1946, coming from Puerto Rico.

He was employed as a foreman at US Steel for 38 years, retiring in 1994. He did attend Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104, Puerto Rican Home, The Mexican Mutual Society and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, all of Lorain.
William enjoyed traveling to the beaches in Puerto Rico and he was an avid lottery player.

He is survived by his brothers: Ruben D. Wichy, of Elizabeth, New Jersey and Marcos A. Wichy, of Puerto Rico, sister: Encarnita (nee Wichy) Morales, of Lorain, niece: Diana A. Vannoy, of Lorain and other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Vicente and Dolores (nee Navarro) Wichy and other brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 19, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain.
