Clarence K. Raney, 82, World War II Navy Veteran
Mary Evelyn Seres, age 85, of Grafton, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 in her home after a long illness.Clarence K. Raney, 82,of Lorain died Monday, March 16, 2004 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 1, 1922 in Dubois, Ind., and had moved to Lorain more than 50 years ago.
Mr. Raney was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a machine operator at the Lorain Steel Mill, retiring after 35 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the White River in Indiana.
Survivors include his son: David Raney of Lorain; sisters: Doris and Edna May, both of Indiana; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Ellen (nee Davis); daughters: Donetta Smith and Ruth Sturgill; his parents: Jacob and Cenie (nee Foster) Raney; and a grandson. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The service will be at 9 p.m. at Wyers Funeral Chapel; 2900 N. Ridge Road, Elyria. The Rev. Jim Gordon, pastor of Elyria Baptist Church, will officiate.
