Armand A. "Bud" Scalero, 77, WWII U.S. Navy Veteran
Armand A. "Bud" Scalero, 77, of Avon Lake passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at his home.Mr. Scalero was born September 8, 1926 in Cleveland and was a graduate of Collinwood High School and Penn College.
During World War II Bud served as a Radioman in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, where he served on the U.S.S. Charles Ausborne as part of the Little Beaver Squadron. He was employed in the trucking business for forty years, retiring as a National Account Executive for Ryder P.I.E. He was a member of Mid-Century #725 F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge, Avon Lake; the Al Koran Shrine, the Cleveland Transportation Club; V.F.W. Post 8686, Sheffield Lake and Erie Am Vets Post 55, Sheffield Lake.
Bud enjoyed fishing and boating, gardening and woodworking.
Mr. Scalero is survived by his wife: Yvonne J. Scalero (flee Currier); two daughters, Sally Young (David) of Columbia Station and Sherry Gamble (Rodney) of North Canton; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two sisters: Jeanne Lewis and Elaine Greg.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Cathy Lee Scalero (1954); and his parents, Frank and Ruth (nee Sump) Scalero.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, where Mid-Century Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home Friday March 19 at 11 a.m. Rev. Kelly Peters, pastor of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ will officiate.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon where V.F.W. Post 9871 of North Ridgeville and the Navy will conduct military honors.
