Agnes Kruse, 85, Worked as a butcher for Berks Grocery

Agnes Kruse (nee Grasse), 85 years of age, and a resident of Rocky River formerly of Amherst passed away Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Rocky River following a lengthy illness.

She was born August 4, 1918, in Morristown, Tennessee where she was raised and lived for 10 years before moving to Amherst where she lived for 65 years. She has lived in Rocky River since 1999.

Agnes worked as a butcher for the former Berks Grocery Store in downtown Amherst for 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Amherst where she was a part of the Willing Workers. She was a member of the Amherst American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #118 and the V.F.W. Post #1662 Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Senior Citizens of Amherst and the Amherst AARP.

Survivors include her sons, John M. Kruse and Kenneth E. Kruse both of Avon Lake; her daughters, Marjorie Gow of Amherst and Marilynn Breudigam of Westlake, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, her sister, Virginia Booher of Knoxville, Tennessee, her brother, John Grasse of Lagrange. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Marvin Edward Kruse in 1984, and her brother, Robert Grasse;,her parents, John and Mary (nee Innman) Grasse.

Friends may call Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Ohio.
