Robert H. Lantz, 79, WWII Veteran, enjoyed sports
Robert H. Lantz, 79, of Avon Lake, formerly of Mentor, passed away suddenly, Thursday, March 11, 2004 in the Emergency Room at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake.Mr. Lantz was born, March 17, 1924 in Cleveland and had lived in Mentor for 28 years prior to moving to Avon Lake 3 years ago.
Mr. Lantz worked as a manufacturing engineer for Cleveland National Tool, which became R.B. and W. Company, retiring in 1986. He was a graduate of Pen College. He served in the US Army, the Asian Theatre and the Philippines during WWII. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Avon Lake. He played various sports and enjoyed travel.
Mr. Lantz is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Soltes) Lantz, other survivors included daughter Mary Ellen Tsai of Olney, MD, step-son Edward Kancler (Audrey) of Twinsburg, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by 1st wife Martha (nee Grechny) two sisters, Helen Marie Lantz and Cass Summers and his parents Raymond and Helen (nee Kennedy) Lantz.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake, Sunday, March 14 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 15 at St. Joseph Church 32929 Lake Rd. Avon Lake at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Timothy O'Connor of the Church will officiate. Interment will be private in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
