Irma D. Babson, 98, Enjoyed gardening, boating, and ballroom dance

Irma D. Babson (nee Atkinson), age 98, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004 in the Inn at Chappel Creek, Vermilion, after a lengthy illness.

She was born July 15, 1905 in Athens County, Ohio. She lived in Eastlake, Ohio much of her life, moving to Bonita Springs, FL where she lived for 39 years. She resided in Vermilion the past four years.

She was a graduate of Ohio University and was a high school home economics teacher for the Willoughby-Eastlake School Systems. She was a member of the National Education Association. She enjoyed gardening, boating, ballroom dancing, and needle crafts.

Survivors include her son Don Babson of Huron, six grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Gerald “Al” Babson 2003, son Dow Babson,, 2001, grandson Ed Babson, 1996, and her parents, Jesse and Eva (nee Linton) Babson.

A memorial services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at The Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend James Cox, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion, will officiate. Private burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
