Clifford T. Nolan, 76, Founded Genie Sales & Service
Clifford T. Nolan, 76, of Lorain, died on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph in Lorain, OH following a battle with prostate cancer.Mr. Nolan was born on December 25, 1927 in Lorain, OH and was a life long resident. He was a 1946A graduate of Lorain High School. He was a US Army veteran. He was employed for 30 years on the 3 Seamless Hot End at US Steel. He retired in 1974. In 1964, he founded Genie Sales & Service, which he ran until 1988.
He was an outstanding football player in high school. He played on the untied and undefeated Lorain High School football team of 1943. He was inducted into the Lorain Sports Hall Of Fame in 1992. He was a 50-year member of the Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church. In 1986, he was Exalted Ruler of Elks BPOE # 1301. He was a member of the Black River Masonic Lodge # 786 and the Senior Fellowship. He is a life member of the Amvets and was a past president of the Lorain City Club.
Mr. Nolan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Florence M (nee Kelley) Nolan, his two daughters, Peggy Hamrlik of Amherst, Shelley Harris of Amherst, his son, James Nolan of Lorain, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his brother Dr. Robert E. Nolan of North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents William M. and Alice L. (nee Perrine) Nolan.
Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio, on Sunday, March 7, 2004 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Elks Lodge # 1301 will provide memorial services at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on March 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church in Lorain, OH, with Rev. John Ferris, pastor, officiating.
Clifford T. Nolan will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township, OH.
