Charles W. Fortney, 63, Avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed basketball and baseball
Charles W. Forney, age 63, of Lorain, died on Friday, February 28, 2003 at Community Health Partners Hospital West after a sudden illness. He was born September 14, 1939 in Grafton, West Virginia, and came to Ohio as a child.He began working for Home Heating and Plumbing services in 1958 and was currently the owner/operator.
He coached CYO Basketball for St. John's Roman Catholic Church. He also managed the Knights of Columbus Little League Baseball Team in Lorain for several years. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed basketball and baseball with his sons and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, the former Martha Tucker, six sons: Charles W. Fortney Jr., South Amherst, Gregory A., Jack D., Daniel T., John E., and Steven R., all of Lorain, 18 grandchildren, and his step-father, Alex Toderick of Avon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucindia Toderick.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 3, 2003 from 3 to 5 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be conducted at 8:30 pm by Reverend Father Thomas Smith, Pastor of St. John Roman Catholic Church.
