Maybelle Farkas, 84, Owned her own beauty shop
Maybelle Farkas (nee Orsini), 84 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Lorain Community Health Partners, following a lengthy illness. She was born November 14, 1918 in Marion, Ohio where she was raised.She had lived in both Marion and Cleveland until 1934 when she moved to South Amherst. She lived in South Amherst until 1974 when she moved to Amherst where she had lived since.
Maybelle was self-employed as a hairdresser for 20 years operating her own beauty shop in South Amherst retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in South Amherst. She was an honorary life member of Beaver Creek Boat Club. She enjoyed boating and fishing.
Survivors include her son, Arthur L. Wragg of Huron, stepson Steve Farkas and step daughter Julie Ott, one granddaughter, 4 great grandchildren, her brother Larry Orcena of Mount Gilead, sisters; Helen Orsini of Marion and Carmela McDavid of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 33 years, Arthur Wragg in 1971, her second husband of 29 years Steve Farkas in 2001, her sister Marge Green and by her parents Frank and Blanch (nee Jenkins) Orsini.
Friends may call Thursday, February 27, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-8 at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst where funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM. The Rev. Paul D. Eaton, pastor of St. Johns Church of Christ, South Amherst will officiate. Burial will be held privately in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
