Helen F. Reed, 80, Certified Bible teacher, enjoyed traveling
Helen F. Reed (nee Lions), 80 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2003 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home, following a brief illness. She was born December 12, 1922 in Lackey, KY where she was raised. She has lived in Ohio since 1945.Helen was a housewife and a mother. Over the years she worked as a secretary, department manager for Hills Dept. Store, and managed condos in Florida. Helen was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Amherst and a certified bible teacher from Evangelical Bible training and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include her sons, Danny R. Reed of Amherst and Ralph M. Reed of Lorain; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and her brother Anthony Lions of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Virgil Reed in 1987, her great grandson Cole Alexander Reed in 1995, her brothers; Bruce and Harry Lions, and by her parents Ora and Madge (nee Wiley) Lions.
Friends may cal Thursday, February 27, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 am. The Rev. Michael Plog, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.
