Gene E. Blake, 73, Enjoyed repairing automobiles and camping

Gene E. Blake, 73, of Avon passed away Thursday, February 20, 2003 at the Morton Plant Rehabilitation Facility in Belleair, Florida. He was a winter resident in Seminole, Florida since 1973. He was born June 14, 1929 in Arcadia, Ohio.

He served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Blake was employed as a machinist at B.F. Goodrich Research and Development, Avon Lake for 44 years. He was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church and the Lake Seminole Presbyterian Church, Seminole, Florida. He enjoyed repairing automobiles and camping.

Mr. Blake is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanne (nee Walsh), a daughter, Peggy Stevens (Rick) of Grove City, Ohio, two granddaughters, Jennifer and Kelly, and a sister Patricia Furnas of Avon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo E. and Freda (nee Mayberry) Blake.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon From 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2003. Services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at 10:00 am. Rev. John R. Butchko, pastor of Avon United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Memorials may be forwarded to the American Cancer Society, 43099 North Ridge Rd., Elyria, Ohio 44035.
