Robert C. Schuetz, 72, Hobbies included woodworking, bird watching, and gardening

Photo of Robert C. Schuetz Robert C. Schuetz, age 72, of Lorain, died Sunday February 16, 2003 at his home. He was born June 17, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Lorain County since 1956 coming from Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mr. Schuetz was a graduate of Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh; he went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. He graduated from Officers' Candidate School with the rank of Captain. He was attached to the 27th Co. First O.C. Regiment of the Adjutant General's Office in West Germany. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post # 1079 in Elyria.

He was employed as a Career Agent for the Prudential Insurance Company retiring in 1992 following 36 years of service with the company. He served as President of the International Union of Life Insurance Agents from 1977 to 1992.

A parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, he was extremely interested in genealogy and had spent numerous years compiling his family history, that work was published in 2002. Additional interests included woodworking, bird watching, flower gardening, and reading. He was also an ardent traveler who visited numerous destinations including, china, Egypt, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Alaska.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years; Helene (nee Zirger), sons; Kurt of Wakeman and Erick of Solon, daughters: Claudia Figueroa and Tamera Schuetz both of Elyria, 5 grandchildren, and a brother James, of Pittsburgh, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Alphonse and Olive (nee Freund) Schuetz, and by his twin brother, Richard in 1972.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19, 2003 from 5-8 pm in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday beginning at 9:30 in the funeral chapel and will be followed by his funeral mass at 10:00 am in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of St. Peter Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Rugby Cemetery, Brownhelm Township where military honors will be conducted by officers and members of Mullen-Murray Post # 451 of the V.F.W.
