Marian Dorothy Tresten, 79, R.N., enjoyed crosswords, crocheting, and knitting
Marian Dorothy Tresten (nee Mehal), age 79, passed away Thursday February 13, 2003 at Bradley Bay Nursing Home in Bay Village after a long illness. She was born May 24, 1923 in Natrona, Pennsylvania and has been a resident of Avon for 42 years.She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Natrona, PA and St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a Registered Nurse specializing in Neo Natal Nurseries and retired from St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, Ohio. She had also worked in hospitals in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago, and Cleveland.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Avon and the Ladies Guild. She was also a member of The First Catholic Slovak Union of Jednota, Nursing Associations and Alumni Groups. As hobbies she enjoyed crossword Puzzles, crocheting, knitting, especially Christmas Stockings, at least 2000 that are in Japan and many parts of the U.S. She also made at least 50 afghans.
She is survived by two brothers; Thomas (Anne) Mehal of Sarver, PA, and Paul (Judy) Mehal of Annandale, VA, two nieces, Judy Waner and Mary Ann Mehal, and a nephew Mike Mehal.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in January of 1995, her parents Joseph and Helen (nee Duchon) Mehal, a brother Joseph Jr. and a sister Dorothy Mehal.
Friends may call at the Busch Burmeister Family Chapel 32000 Detroit Rd. Avon from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday, February 16, 2003. Holy Trinity Ladies Guild will say the Rosary at 3:00 pm. Prayer services will be Monday at 9:15 am at the Funeral Home and the funeral mass will be at Holy Trinity Church, 33601 Detroit Rd., Avon at 10:00 am.
The family suggests memorial contributions be forwarded to Holy Trinity Church Expansion Fund or Benedictine High School.
