John William "Jack" Meyers, 75, Former US Marine

John William "Jack" Meyers, 75 of Vermilion, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at the home of his daughter in Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

He was born October 19, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio. He has been a life long Lorain - Vermilion resident.

He was a veteran of the US Marines and served as a military policeman during WWII.

He worked as an automotive salesman for many of the local dealerships including Milad's in Amherst, Kolgan Motors Lorain and Arkinson-Williams Motors, Lorain, Buckeye Ford, Popovich, AMC Motors in Vermilion and Miss Motors in Vermilion. He used to own hobby shops in Lorain.

She is survived by 4 sons, Daniel W. Meyers of Vermilion, David A. Meyers of San Diego, CA, Dennis J. Meyers of Fostoria, and Douglas E. Meyers of Vermilion; daughter, Susan M. Goodwin of Vermilion; his companion of 25 years, Florence Behner of Grafton; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a twin sister, Jean Bruce of Wasilla, Alaska; and a brother, Daniel Meyers of Boca Raton, FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Germaine Nina (nee Jones) Meyers in 1969; and his parents, Daniel Vincent and Edith (nee Knolls) Meyers.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

The Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, handled arrangements.
