Michael F. Krase, 85, Member of Lorain County Shrine Club, Slovak Club, Elks Lodge 1301, and many others

Michael F. Krase, 85, of Oberlin and formerly of Lorain, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at his residence. Born July 17, 1017 in Braddock, PA, he moved to Lorain in 1922 and has lived here until moving to Oberlin 9 months ago.

He was a 1936 graduate of Lorain High School and had received an engineering degree from Fenn College, Cleveland. He worked as a project control engineer for US Steel of Pittsburgh for 48 years, retiring in 1984.

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Lorain, Lorain County Shrine Club, Lorain County Scottish Rite Society, Al Koran Temple in Cleveland, American Slovak Club, a charter member of Cosmopolitan Dance Club, life member of the Elks Lodge 1301, and the Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons. He worked with Boy Scout Troop 306 for 20 years, the last 8 years he served as assistant leader. He served as treasurer for Michael Scherach's campaigns.

Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Mildred (nee Schuller), son, James M. Krase, of Amherst, daughters, Michele K. Becker, of Wakeman, and Susan L. Salter, of North Ridgeville, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, brother, John Krasnobrucky, of Elyria, sisters, Mary Krasnobrucky, of Lorain, and Irene Krase, of San Clemente, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Krasnobrucky, in 1946, and Julia (nee Krezmean) Krasnobrucky, in 1974, sister, Julia Bresak, in 2000.

Services for the family where held in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain.
