Lucy "Betty" Elizabeth Belt, 71, Enjoyed visiting with friends, Bunko card club, reading, golf, and dancing
Lucy " Betty" Elizabeth Belt (nee Howat), age 71, of Birmingham, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003 in Community Health Partners West, Lorain, after a brief illness. She was born April 2, 1931 in Lorain, Ohio. She was raised in Lakewood and has been a resident of Birmingham for 45 years.She worked for Firelands High School as head cook and cafeteria worker for 30 years.
She was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, where she volunteered at the Harvest of Antiques and did cooking for the church. She enjoyed visiting with friends, Bunko card club, reading, watching golf on television, dancing, and traveling.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Claudia Bunt of Vermilion, Pam Kmitt of Birmingham, and Liz Belt of Birmingham, OH; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, 2 sisters, Jackie Thissen of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Sandy Beck of Lawrenceburg, TN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Belt on September 12, 2002; a son, John in 1993; and her parents John and Lucy (nee Sweet) Howat.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2003 from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm at the Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15018 South Street, Birmingham, with the Reverend Jan Sprague, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion at a later date.
