Alma Mae Stewart, 99, Excellent cook, enjoyed gardening and word searches
Alma Mae Stewart (nee Harper), 99 years of age, and a resident of North Ridgeville, passed away Monday, February 10, 2003 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain following a sudden illness. She was born March 20, 1903 in Glenroy, Ohio where she was raised. She lived in Lorain and LaGrange from 1940 to 1960 when she moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. She has been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1975.While living in Arkansas, she attended Park Ridge Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook and took upon herself the job of baking all the goodies for family gatherings. She loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed gardening and word search puzzles.
Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Jordan of Clinton, Iowa, Dorothy Shavor of Elyria, and RoseMary Tabor of North Ridgeville, 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 33 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Cecil A. Stewart in 1974; by her son Edsel James Stewart in 1985; by her parents Arthur and Amanda (nee Dozier) Harper; and by her brother Elmer Harper at 19 years of age.
Friend may call Thursday, February 13, 2003 from 2-4 pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4:00 pm from the funeral home. The Rev. Robert Schroyer and Pastor Bill Williams, associate pastors of Church of the Open Door, will co-officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Vinton County, Ohio.
