Kathryn H. Udvardy, 88, Avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and gifted crossword puzzle worker
Kathryn H. Udvardy (nee Henson), age 88, of Lorain, died Thursday February 6, 2001 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Udvardt was born July 8, 1914 in Amherst Township and had been a resident of Lorain for the past 69 years.She was a 1932 graduate of Amherst High School.
Kathryn was an active parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain where she was also a member of the Women's Guild.
She was an accomplished seamstress who took great pride in crafting clothes for her family including wedding gowns and outfits for special family occasions. She was also a skilled baker with bread being one her specialties. For forty-give years she spend every Saturday baking numerous loaves of bread for distribution amongst family and friends. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and a gifted crossword puzzle worker. She enjoyed immensely listening to Books on Tape as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her son: Gerald of San Clemente, California, daughters: Mrs. Harvey (Marilyn) Teaman of Amherst, Mrs. Glen (Jane) Terry of Grafton, and Mrs. Carl (Donna) Ignatko of Lorain, 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 8 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Andrew in 1989, by her parents: Richard and Lillie (nee Schubert) Henson, by sisters: Caroline Cragin, and Celia May, and by brothers: William Henson, Murton Henson, and Benjamin Henson.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church - 310 Eighth Street - Lorain. The Reverend Daniels O. Divis, pastor of St. Mary Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
