Daisy I. Maloy, 62, Worked as a courier, member of St. John Roman Catholic Church

Daisy L. Maloy, (nee Whatmore), age 62, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at St. John Westshore Hospital, Westlake, following a 2-year illness. She was born on June 29, 1940 in Johnstown, PA, moving to Lorain in 1965.

Daisy was employed at the Lorain City Board of Education for 28 years. In November 1974 she began working as a cleaner at Lowell Elementary and Lakeview Elementary until May 1990 when she then became a courier. She worked as a courier until her retirement in January 2002. During the mid 1980's she served as President of the OAPSE Union Local #377.

She was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Lorain. A few years ago, she also served as a host for a foreign exchange student, Michael Vit, from Germany.

She is survived by her 4 sons: Bill Maloy, of Louisville, KY, Mark Maloy, of Amherst, Daniel Maloy, of Dallas, TX, Thomas Maloy, Jeromesville, OH, 1 daughter: Betty Bentley, of Amherst, 14 grandchildren; 2 brothers: John Whatmore, Johnstown, PA, Howard Whatmore, of Chicago, IL; 3 sisters: Lillian Johnson, of Indiana, Betty Makuch, of Silver Springs, MD, and Mary Kazminski, of Johnstown, PA.

She is preceded in death by her parents: John and Ann (nee Hershburgh) Whatmore, 3 brothers: Walt, Francis, and Tom, and 3 sisters: Ann Russo, Estelia Hillenbrand, and Marie Pine.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2003 at 9:30 am in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am mass at St. John Roman Catholic Church, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Thomas Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
