Erma Vaira, 90, Lorain resident since 1923

Erma Vaira, (nee Hoff) age 90, of Lorain, died Monday, February 3, 2003 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on July 14, 1912 in Cumberland, MD, and moved to Lorain in 1923.

In the late 1940's she was employed as an assembler at General Industries, Elyria, for 4 years.

Erma was a member of the Bethel Chapel, Lorain.

She is survived by her son: Frank Litten, of Hudson, Florida, 15 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Andrew "Chuck" Vaira, in 1966, parents: Emmanuel Jacob Hoff and Bertha (nee Neville) Hoff and sons: Alfred Litten, Carl Litten and daughter: Janet Canterbury in 1980 and bothers: Offutt R. Hoff in 2000, Elray Hoff and sisters: Barbara Hoff, Neva McFarland, Freda Messenger and step-sister: Mary Tuex.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Bill Mouer, pastor of Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will following in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
