Bonnie L. Ortega, 48, Enjoyed Cooking
Bonnie L. Ortega (nee Queen), 48, of Lorain, died Wednesday January 15, 2003 in the critical care unit at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria after a short illness.She was born October 24, 1954 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident. She was a graduate of Lorain High School.
Mrs. Ortega was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and a past member of St. John Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed arts & crafts, painting & ceramics, cooking and collecting antique bells and angel figurines. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Emeril cooking show and she enjoyed reading his books.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years Joseph Ortega of Lorain; sons, Michael Ortega of Lorain and Patrick Ortega of Livonia, Michigan; mother Louellen Laubenthal and stepfather Paul Laubenthal, both of Lorain; sisters: Donna Falbo of Amherst and Colleen Parker of Lorain and brother Jeffry Queen of Avon. She was preceded in death by her father Milton Queen, maternal grandparents Darl & Mary (nee Crockett) Queen and paternal grandparents Milton and Maggie Queen.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 12:00 noon at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
