Victoria B. Alloway, 75, Enjoyed quilting, cooking Polish dishes, and traveling
Victoria B. Alloway (nee Dombrowski), 75 of Elyria, formerly of Lorain died Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at E.M.H. Regional Medical Center in Elyria following a sudden illness.She was born May 3, 1924 in Carnegie, PA, lived most of her life in Lorain and has been a resident of Elyria for the past 8 years.
Mrs. Alloway worked as a welder for over 20 years at the former Fruehoff Trucking Co. and nine years in the sign department of Winko-Matic both of Avon, Ohio.
She was an active member of the St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain and its Marion Guild/Christian Mothers, the Secular Franciscan Order and a Eucharist minister. She was a self-taught seamstress, enjoyed quilting, cooking especially Polish dishes, and traveling.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years William E., sons, Dr. William J. of Bethesda, Maryland, Thomas E. of New London, Ohio, and James R. of Lorain, 6 grandchildren, bother Alex Dombrowski of Carnegie, PA, sisters Mary Lishka of Carnegie and Deloris Marszalak of Middletown, New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents John and Tillie (nee Petrosky) Dombrowski, brothers Henry, John, and Joseph Dombrowski, and sister Helen Islitzer.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home located at 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain where a rosary service will be held at 3:00 p.m. conducted by the Marion Guild/Christian Mothers and followed with a Franciscian Wake Service.
Funeral service on Saturday, at the funeral home will be at 9:15 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church located at 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain, Ohio with the Rev. Charles Henkle, Associate Pastor O.F.M. Conv. Officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.
