Mary Solak, 87, Member of St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church

Mary Solak, 87, of Lorain, died Sunday, January 12, 2003 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph Residential Center in Lorain after an illness of two weeks. She was born on November 3, 1915 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident here.

She worked in retail sales at the Ontario Store in Lorain until retiring in 1977. Prior to that she was a sales clerk at he former Jane Allen Dress Shop in Lorain for several years. She was a member of St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Apostleship of Prayer.

She is survived by three nephews and a niece, and several grandnephews and grandnieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna (nee Romanzcuk) Solak, brothers, John, Nicholas, Peter, and Stephen, and sisters, Rose Stolec, Anna and Tillie Solak.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 14, 2003 from 3-5 pm in the Devin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a Panachida service will be conducted Tuesday at 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday January 15, 2003 at 10:30 am in the funeral home, followed by 11:00 am Divine Liturgy at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rev. Father Peter Tomas, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
